The Art of Digging

I remember watching the documentary "Scratch" when it was first released in 2001 and being completely captivated by the subject matter and the talent of these artists.  There was one section in particular that really stuck with me.  It started with DJ Shadow sitting on the floor in the dark basement of a record store somewhere in Davis, California.  The camera zooms out to reveal mountains and mountains of old records stacked to the sealing on either side of him.  This is where I was introduced to the art of digging.
I hadn't thought about this movie for probably 8-9 years, until today.  I was cruising around the googles when I stumbled upon this little gem.  The scene I just described came back to me in a rush and I thought to my self, this guy is the DJ shadow of visual artists.
There is something amazing to me about an artist who takes something old and forgotten and turns it into something new and relevant.  Enjoy.

And here is the clip from "Scratch" I described.
